Is Plasma TV Screen Burn-In Still a Problem?

Plasma TV Screen Burn-In is commonly asked question along with the lifespan of a plasma TV. Let me cover it here as its very important to most people considering buying a plasma HD TV.

The thing is that all phosphor based display systems (CRT and plasma) can suffer from image retention which is sometimes called “ghosting, image shadowing, image burn in.”

This happens because of the reaction to light and electric impulse.

However if you buy a new plasma TV then you shouldn’t have to worry as much.

In recent years plasma technology has seen a much higher resistance to “burn in” and this has been standard for most plasma and LCD TV manufacturers.

This is good news and there are a couple of the most well know plasma TV manufacturers that state plasma TVs now have the same burn in resistance and susceptibility as CRT TVs, so you shouldn’t be concerned as you used to be.

My LG 42PG25 Plasma TV Review

The LG 42PG25 Plasma is a second tier model from the LG 2008/2009 series of plasma TVs.

LG have brought in a claim in 2008 of a dynamic contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1 on their plasma TV’s. This series plasma has a native contrast of 20,000:1.

The 42PG25 plasma uses the new Fluid Motion technology which LG says gives the effect of a 180hz refresh rate.

The 42PG25 also comes with the now common enhancements common to all LG’s new plasma TVs like the Clear Voice technology. This drastically enhances and amplifies the human voice element when there is lots of background noise or music. A very good update.

The Resolution of this LG plasma is 1024 X 768 (720p). The depth of these newer LG models has been reduced to 3.4″.

The LG 42PG25 is a 1024 X 768 plasma TV so it really shows best in a 1080i resolution. The HD is good but not as great as some of its competitors in the field, but the picture is very accurate.

My Samsung PN58A650 Plasma TV Review

Samsung has brought out its latest Plasma TV with the release of the PN58A650. This is a second generation in to the 58 inch plasma market with its main competition coming from Panasonic.

The Samsung PN58A650 Plasma is part of the new PB650 series from Samsung and most people agree that the television looks awesome.

Samsung have made some modifications from the last series (550 series) by improving the plasma quality, size and the value of the TV.

What’s great is the price has not changed drastically either. This is not very common in the Plasma TV marketplace these days.

The PN58A650 Plasma has some cool features also. It has the increased contrast, a more advanced and updated pictures setting feature, the new Samsung Touch of Color aesthetics, increased contrast and the scrolling wheel interface adjustments.

The Samsung PN58A650 Plasma performed great on the HD content tests and has very high definition picture quality with 720p/1080i/1080p.
